Here’s my full review of my new Create Room DreamBox, how I set it up and organized all my craft supplies, and how it’s holding up after two months of use.
A few months ago I came to the realization that my craft room and blog studio just wasn’t serving me in a way that makes me productive. I had spent thousands of dollars on storage shelving, work tables, and containers to make the perfect crafting space with everything on display. It was my dream setup. Keyword is was.

After a year of working in the room and a transition to blogging full time, I realized that I actually don’t like having all my supplies visible. Even when the room was clean, I still felt anxious and overwhelmed. All the clear bins and tools on pegboards were such a distraction and I just wasn’t able to focus. So I decided to put the feeling of regret aside and chalk up the money I had spent as a loss and start over.

I emptied the room, gave my son my old storage shelving, and ordered a new solution that would allow me to hide away all my craft stuff when it’s time to have meetings with my team or write blog posts. I have been eyeing the DreamBox from Create Room for years, but now seemed like the perfect time to finally get one for myself.

What Is A DreamBox?
The DreamBox from Create Room is an all-in-one cabinet with completely customizable storage inside. And the best part about this cabinet is it can be closed up like the world’s coolest transformer to hide everything inside. When it’s closed, it looks like a beautiful armoire, and no one would even guess that it’s holding a whole craft room behind the doors. Watch Me Open And Close It In This Video

There’s also a table that folds up inside the cabinet, and can be used at chair height or standing height. This was a huge selling point for me because sometimes I like to work standing up, but I don’t want to commit to a tall table that can only be used on my feet.

What Comes With The Create Room DreamBox?
When you order any DreamBox using my promo code LELABURRIS100, you automatically get $100 off and a half set of totes (the clear bins) which is a total of 40 pieces. You also get four metal rods and holding clips, eight small canisters, the folding table, and the shelves and tracks needed to hold your bins in place.

DreamBox Add-On Options
There are a few options you can add to your order like a crown light, upgraded doors, extra totes, and storage accessories. I chose to get a full set of totes, which is 80 total, but I decided to skip the extra accessories for now until I see what else I need. I also skipped the crown light because I typically have a camera mounted above my craft table on the ceiling and I was afraid the crown would block the view.

I ordered the DreamBox with Shaker Style doors because I plan on keeping it closed when my whole team is in the office. It does cost extra to have the shaker doors, so if you plan on keeping the DreamBox open all the time, you can probably skip that option.

I also did upgrade to the Pre-Built service and I am so glad I did. This cabinet is a beast and very heavy with lots of pieces. It was 1000% worth it to have it prebuilt. It arrived in a giant crate in just three pieces that needed to be screwed together. My mom, husband, and I were able to bring it inside by ourselves and assemble it in just a couple of hours. My DreamBox Layout
Here’s my fully filled DreamBox with all my craft supplies and Cricut machines inside. I made paper covers for the totes because it felt a little cluttered seeing everything in them, and I followed the recommended layout from Create Room for tote placement. Watch Me Fill My DreamBox In This Video

I labeled all the totes with an embossing label maker, and for the tiny totes I put the labels on the inside of the door instead of on the actual containers for a cleaner look.

I have rearranged my DreamBox three times since it arrived, and I think I’ve finally found the layout that is most functional for my daily work and my crafting hobbies. I ended up not putting my Cricut vinyl inside because I really like how I had stored it in the Ikea Kallax unit in the past, but I did put all my other Cricut materials inside.

Create Room offers this printable layout PDF on their website and I printed six copies right after I ordered my DreamBox. I was able to try out different layouts on paper long before my DreamBox even arrived, so by the time it came I had three strong options to try.

Tour My DreamBox
Here’s a few photos of what’s inside my DreamBox totes. I added cheap drawer baskets from Walmart in a lot of the large totes to divide them up and keep smaller items contained. The medium and small totes came with dividers already, so that made it easy to keep things tidy inside.

I got the InView Totes because the DiviDrawers were on backorder, and I am really happy with them.

The InView Totes will eventually be discontinued once the DiviDrawers are fully in stock, but for now they’re still available to order and I think they’re great. Plus I’m really impatient and I didn’t want to wait for the DiviDrawers to come in. I may upgrade later, but for now I don’t feel the need to.

My Honest Opinion Of The Create Room DreamBox
Full disclaimer, I purchased my DreamBox with my own money and I used the financing option, but Create Room did offer me a discount. I did still spend four figures myself, so this is not a gifted product.

The Pricing
Let’s start with the price, since I know that’s what’s on your mind. The base model starts at $2399 and the fully loaded version tops out at $4065 (as of December 2021). Yes, it is a very expensive storage cabinet, and yes, it’s not for everyone.

But for me, I think the investment was worth it. I craft as a hobby but also for my blog which is my full time business. So spending this amount on an all-in-one storage solution to make my workdays more efficient is totally worth it in my book. But had there not been a financing option it would have been out of the question for me.

The Quality
Next up, let’s talk about quality. I read a lot of reviews before I ordered my DreamBox, but the vast majority of the reviews were sponsored and gifted blog posts which made me a little unsure if it was getting the whole truth about the quality of a DreamBox. And the reviews I saw in a Facebook group mentioned a lot of damaged deliveries, long wait times, and malfunctioning pieces.

I honestly think the quality is pretty impressive for something as bulky as this cabinet. My doors don’t line up evenly, but I’m 99% sure it’s because the DreamBox is on a basement floor that’s likely not level. I did have a problem with my table legs, but Create Room’s customer service sent me new ones in a flash to replace them. And my DreamBox is loaded down and the bins aren’t flexing at all. So far I’m super happy with it.

Would I Recommend A DreamBox To My Friends And Family?
Do I think it’s worth the amount of money it costs? For the most part. I understand material costs and manufacturing logistics, so the price makes sense to me. But there are a few design aspects that could use improvement. Create Room has come a long way since their first version of The Original Scrapbox (The DreamBox’s old name), so it’s clear they are continuing to make things better.
I can confidently recommend a Create Room DreamBox to you with a clear conscience, and if you do have issues, their team is fantastic and really seem to care about making things right.
