Did anybody make New Years Resolutions?
This is actually my first time.
I’m usually very anti-resolution.
But for some reason, this year I decided I needed to hold myself accountable for my goals.
I didn’t make any serious ones.
Nothing major or life changing.
Nothing really even worth announcing as a resolution.
More like some minor life changes that I’ve been meaning to get around to.
I don’t know about you but it seems like every time I come up with a great idea about how I can find more hours in the day or create something totally new and innovative or pick up a new hobby, life somehow gets in the way and all those good intentions get pushed to the side.
Like a few months ago I watched some YouTube videos to learn to crochet.
And I rocked at it!
I was crocheting like a pro.
But then basketball season came. And birthdays and holidays and parties and projects.
And that same little half-finished stuffed dog I was making for my son is still in the same amount of pieces it was in last Fall.
I’ll get to it eventually.
And recently I decided I wanted to learn to play the guitar and the banjo.
Not because I want to pick up a new lifelong skill.
I’m not that ambitious.
I just heard a couple of songs on the radio that I thought it’d be nice if I could play.
So I hired someone to teach me.
But finding time for lessons is hard! Harder than I thought it would be.
Maybe next week.
Anyway, maybe that’s why I’m so anti-resolution.
But I’m ready to give it another shot.
So this year, the year of 2016, I proclaim the following goals to be achieved by December.
(Look at me sounding all serious!)
I’m going to finish that stuffed dog before I forget how to crochet.
I’m going to learn how to play that dang song on the guitar AND the banjo. And rock it out at our next cookout. And hope that no one asks me to play anything else…
I’m going to cook more meals at home. Not for budget or health reasons. Just because I like to cook and I should take time to enjoy it more often.
And I’m going to find a way to add eight more hours into the day so I can accomplish all this on top of my regular day’s activities.
Okay, so maybe that last one is a stretch.
I’m dreaming big, here.
So what about you?
Resolutions? Are they your thing?
And if so, do you usually follow through or leave them in the dust before Valentine’s Day?
