Here’s how we store and organize all our lawn care tools and equipment in our two-car garage using smart and affordable storage solutions that free up floor space. Written in partnership with HART Tools.
We have been in the process of cleaning up and organizing our hot mess of a garage for three weeks now, and I’ll be honest, it’s taken a lot longer than I expected. Usually my garage cleanups take just one weekend, but the state of our garage, paired with my determination to get better storage solutions, has added a lot more work to the timeline. Today I want to show you how we used a combination of wall-mounted and freestanding storage items from HART Tools to finally make our lawn equipment accessible and organized.

HART Tools Freestanding Shelving
First, let’s talk about the classic garage staple—freestanding shelving. What I love about HART’s garage shelving is that it’s deeper than the standard shelves you can find at home improvement stores, but costs the same.

With these 24″ deep shelves, I can turn a 66-quart storage bin longways to allow me to fit two bins per shelf. That means each Five Tier Storage Shelf can hold ten 66qt bins. That’s a lot of storage space!

On our shelves in the lawn equipment zone, we store all the smaller products, cleaners, and yard chemicals safely inside lidded containers. This keeps any hazardous material contained and inaccessible to pets or children. We also store lawn mower accessories here since they’re too bulky to be hung.

HART Rail Systems
While our garage is pretty large, the space between the walls and where our vehicles are parked is really narrow. We had to be really strategic with where we could place shelves and where we had to leave open space for door-swing. In the areas that a car door would need to open, we made sure to put wall-mounted rail systems with narrow items.

The HART Tools Garage Rail System is the perfect solution for electric lawn equipment. The starter kit comes with three rails and a variety of hooks to hold all kinds of items in any shape or size. The rail system keeps our equipment off the floor, easy to find, and easy to put back when we’re done.

And since the hooks aren’t permanent, I can rearrange anytime I need to without drilling holes. This is helpful for us because we are always expanding our lawn equipment collection. We live on a large hilled property with a lot of maintenance required. I just got a new chainsaw that will need a home on this wall, so I’ll be rearranging again soon.

Mobile Storage
Because lawn equipment stretches far beyond weedeaters and leaf blowers, it’s a good idea to add some mobile storage to your garage, too. Sure, shelves and rails are nice, but what about all the little stuff you need while you’re actually in the yard?

I hung this large heavy-duty tote bag onto my rail system and stashed it with all kinds of lawn care essentials like rolled-up wide brim hats, sunscreen, weedeater string, scissors, safety glasses, bandaids, bug spray, ant mound treatment, and more. The bag can come out to the yard with us while we work or attach onto the back of the lawn mower with a bungee cord.

We also store even more lawn care equipment like extra hoses, gardening supplies, and repair items inside the rolling HART Stack System. This can be rolled out to the driveway when needed to save us from loading up an armload of stuff, or we can disassemble the Stack System and just carry one piece out by its handle.
