Saturday Morning Coffee Date is back! Grab a cup of coffee and snuggle up in your favorite seat of the house as we chat about all things home, life, and randomness.
After a long holiday break, I have officially jumped back into home renovations. Ever since I finished the bathroom in the Studio, along with doing some updates in the work area of the Studio and Nigel’s side of the basement, the kitchenette has been looking more and more out of place. I realized I do my most focused work when I’m sitting in a Starbucks in the very back corner booth, so I decided to recreate that vibe for the kitchenette.
It’s such a cool place in the basement because it ties my Studio side with Nigel’s Collections Room on the other side. It can double as a place for me to make my fifth cup of coffee for the day and a place for him to serve snacks and drinks with his friends during a ballgame.

I’m actually having a lot of fun with this project so far because it’s bringing me back to my early DIY roots. Back when budgets were really small in our old-old-house and I had to get crafty with upgrades. I did a lot of trial-and-error in that house, like painting the tile floors, experimenting with open kitchen shelving, and even adding trim to cabinet doors.
Will I eventually tear out the entire kitchenette and replace it with all new materials? Probably. But it’s not at the top (or hey, even the middle) of my priority list, and I’m having a blast playing with these quick-fix makeover techniques.

What’s On My Mind This Saturday Morning
How do you feel about TV Series reboots? I watched the first two episodes of How I Met Your Father. I tried to like it. I really tried. But I’m just not feeling it. I’ll give it a couple more chances though.
But I LOVE Call Me Kat’s second season already. (Which ironically is also a “reimagining” of the British sitcom Miranda) Are you team Oscar or Team Max?
One last TV mention…have you seen House Hunters: Comedians On Couches yet? We all love to make fun of House Hunters episodes, and this series features Comedians watching old episodes together with the most hilarious commentary ever. I had to text Brad (my brother) about it as soon as I got 10 minutes in. I’m obsessed.
Ok, one more TV mention, but it’s not a show this time. You know those awesome but pricy Frame TVs that make your TV look like framed artwork? I found this app called Art Cast that does the same thing a Roku TV. It costs $2.99 a month and is super clear and crisp.
Completely unrelated, today is day 2 of 3 of our Organized-ish Team Retreat. Yesterday we made crafts all day long. Today we sit through meetings, presentations, and group discussions. And tonight we celebrate the bangin’ year we had in 2021 by having dinner at Public House in Chattanooga. Their pot roast is like a hug from your grandma. (Quoted directly from a server there during our first visit. He wasn’t wrong.)

The Weekly Hip List

One Last Thought
It’s National Blonde Brownie Day. And while I think the name of this yummy treat is a little silly, I’m craving one of those gluten free brownies from Whole Foods SO hard right now. If you can’t have gluten and you haven’t checked out the bakery section in Whole Foods, get ready to drop your whole paycheck. Seriously…last time Noah and I went in for one brownie each. We left spending $80.
