Happy Saturday! Grab a cup of coffee and snuggle up in your favorite seat of the house as we chat about all things home, life, and randomness.
Yesterday my son and I went to four different antique stores looking for a dressing mirror to go in the guest bedroom. Why four? Because the first three had zero mirrors at all. We only planned on going to one, but when a teenage boy says he’s having fun browsing stores full of old stuff with his mom, you embrace every second of that time together.
We finally found the mirror I wanted, but we also came across some seriously strange oddities. One shop had a Halloween section, which wasn’t really Halloween themed at all. It was more like the misfit items that were too creepy for a haunted house. (Did I have a nightmare about the chicken with the baby doll head last night? Yes, yes I did.)

Another thing I noticed is that while I love looking at old items that have such history and stories behind them, there’s a LOT of clutter going on in these shops. Each “room” was packed to brim, each shelf was overflowing, and my brain was silently rattling. It’s also a little overwhelming, because there’s so much to look at.
We brought home at least one thing from each store, and we had such a great time together laughing at the crazy items we came across. We decided it’s going to be a monthly tradition to hit up four or five shops in an afternoon and maybe play a scavenger hunt game while we browse. Do you like antique stores or are they not for you?

What’s On My Mind This Saturday Morning
Speaking of Noah, we got him a new mattress last month. I was pretty jealous of how comfy it was, so I got one for myself last week. Copycat? Maybe. Ashamed of it? Not at all. (PS: It’s on sale right now and code BURRIS10 takes another 10% off)
Also on sale this weekend is the cabinet I keep my craft supplies in. I love it because I can keep all my supplies ultra-organized in the 80 different containers that fit inside, then close it up so no one even knows they’re there. (Code LELABURRIS100 takes $100 off)
Remember when I painted the pantry a deep greige color? Kind of like a mix of brown and gray, and I said I was in love with the color? Well that love has only grown stronger because I painted more than 50% of the guest bedroom that exact same shade this week. It’s Perfect Greige (SW6073) from Sherwin Williams.
As a gluten-free person myself, along with a son who is gluten/dairy/egg free, hitting up the local sushi restaurant is no longer in the cards for us. We started making sushi at home, and are having a blast trying out fun “contraptions” along the way. We love these Onigiri molds and this easy sushi roll maker. It’s like playing with playdough you can eat!

One Final Thought
The Fortress Of Catitude (our double-sized cat tree) is in need of some repairs. The carpet around the box levels is starting to tear. What does a crafty person do when a cat tree needs a repair? They dream up a little home remodel for it! I’m planning to add leftover peel and stick wallpaper in the enclosed levels, wrap the towers in new materials, and give them their own little HGTV dream home. You can expect a tour of their little treehouse in August!
