Happy Saturday! Grab a cup of coffee and snuggle up in your favorite seat of the house as we chat about all things home, life, and randomness.
Pinterest almost ruined my closet. There, I said it. Whew, it feels good to get that off my chest! Not only did it almost ruin my closet, but it may have took a swing at my bank account too if I wasn’t careful. Let me back up…
I have a pretty small wardrobe. I’m really trying to build a neutral-based capsule wardrobe, so I’ve been getting rid of both clothes I don’t love anymore as well as clothes in colors that don’t fit the “scheme.” I ordered a Closet Cleanout Kit from ThredUp and loaded it down.
So since there aren’t a lot of clothes on my side of the closet, I ended up with a lot of free space that didn’t have anything in it. I started scrolling on Pinterest for “closet shelf styling”. You know what I’m talking about, the highly decorated shelves with turntables of perfumes, massive nail polish collections, and designer shopping bags (not even purses, just the store’s paper bags!) were filling my phone’s screen.
The more I tried to style the shelves and make them look all fancy and luxurious like the photos I was seeing, the worse it looked. And the weirder it felt. That type of look isn’t me at all. Once I put my phone down and took some time to reset, I cleared the shelves and started over. Except this time I did it my way. And I feel much better about it now.
If you sometimes feel stuck when you’re organizing, I filmed this video for you on Instagram with 3 tips for how to reset your mind and start your project over again. I did all three things yesterday morning and it totally worked.

What’s On My Mind This Saturday Morning
Yesterday Nigel and I went to the mall for the first time in a long time. It felt weird and I felt way too old to be there. Despite being super uncomfortable, one of my fave clothing stores, J. Crew, was having a major sale. I grabbed two more of these pants, because the striped pair I own is too comfy to be a loner.
Speaking of clothes, is there an age limit on wearing denim shorts? I used to love wearing jean shorts, but I tried on some yesterday and I felt like a mom wearing her teenager’s clothes. I did not come home with them…
And why are shorts so short now?? Every store we went into (except J. Crew) only had shorts that were so short my booty was hanging out. I’m all for some short shorts, but the options available now are like underwear but less comfortable.
Earlier this week I shared a tip on Instagram and in this blog post about how you can sanitize your mattress using a vodka in a a spray bottle and everyone was blown away. Did you know vodka is a natural and odorless disinfectant? Even the super cheap stuff works.

I ran a poll on Instagram this week in my Stories and more than 50% of participants said they haven’t started Spring Cleaning yet. I’m curious, have you started? If not, when do you usually kick off your spring cleaning sessions? If you are looking for a plan to get started and need room by room checklists, you can snag the Organized-ish Spring Cleaning planner for 20% off this weekend using code SPRING20.

As a tall gal, all the longer inseams are online! Old Navy actually has great denim shorts in both 5″ and 7″ inseams online. I have a pair I’ve worn for 3 years!
