This morning I announced on Instagram and TikTok that the Organized-ish Purge-athon is kicking off soon! Within two hours, over 1,000 people committed to joining the challenge. If you’re ready to tackle your clutter head-on before the holidays, here’s all the details you need to know before the challenge beings.

When Is The Organized-ish Purge-athon?
This live event is starting on Monday September 19 and will run through Friday September 23, 2022. The weekend before the event will be dedicated to prepping our home for the big purge, and the weekend after the event is all about getting the purged items out of the house.
How Do I Participate In The Decluttering Challenge?
You can participate by following me on Instagram or TikTok (or both) @lelaburris for daily decluttering prompts, motivation, and tips for how to select what stays and what goes. I’ll be posting to my stories and feed on both platforms frequently so make sure you turn on notifications for my account.
What If I Can’t Participate This Week?
No worries! All the videos will be saved, and a directory will be set up here on the blog so you can watch in order whenever you’re ready. Enjoy your vacation and plan a week to tackle the challenge later.

What To Expect From The Organized-ish Purge-athon
Every day for five days, we will facing our stuff and getting really honest with ourselves. No guilt, procrastination, or justification allowed. We are using our heads, not our hearts, and freeing ourselves of the excess “house weight” that is holding us down and stressing us out.
Stock up on trash bags and boxes for donations, but don’t plan on buying any organizers (or anything really, you should be purging!) this week. We are only focusing on getting rid of things. Because the less stuff you own, the less you have to organize.

The Three Levels Of The Organized-ish Purge-athon Challenge
There are three levels of the Organized-ish Purge-athon challenge to meet you where you are, so you have full control over how much time and energy you put into it. There’s no right or wrong way to do this challenge, so just show up as you are and do what you can. Every little bit counts and adds up to some major progress.
Level One: Decluttered-ish
This is the easiest level and takes the least amount of time each day. Plan on committing just 15-20 minutes a day for five days. That’s less than one TV show, so you can definitely handle it. The Decluttered-ish level is all about taking small baby steps that get your decluttering mojo going and inspire you to keep the ball rolling over time.
Level Two: Overwhelmed-ish
You know that feeling when you’re on the verge of a breakdown, and one more kitchen cabinet avalanche might push you over the edge? That’s level two. This level is mid-range and will take you about 45 minutes a day. Again, less than an hour-long Netflix series episode, so still very doable. We’ll get laser focused on the exact things that cause you stress and stop them in their tracks.
Level Three: Extreme-ish
I see you over there hiding in the one room that is actually not a hot mess. I’ve been there, too, and I know how to pull you out. The Extreme-ish level is for those who have had it with all the unnecessary stuff you’ve accumulated and are ready to make big changes asap (or want to burn down your house and start over). Don’t grab those matches yet, though. Plan on an hour and a half every day, and I promise you’ll get massive results.

What If Five Days Isn’t Enough For Me?
The goal of this challenge isn’t to get every single item out of the house that no longer serves you; it’s just to motivate you to change your habits and get in the groove of decluttering more often. Once you see the visual and emotional difference of owning less stuff, you’ll want to keep going.
But if you want more guidance after the challenge ends, keep an eye out for a big announcement you won’t want to miss. I have something up my sleeve that you’re going to love!

Do I need to ‘enter’ anything or just follow your suggestions?
Brad Gandy says
Hi Deb. You don’t need to enter anything. All you have to do is follow @lelaburris on Instagram or TikTok during the week to participate with us (and be the first to learn about some special surprises).
If you can’t this week, we’ll have a directory on this blog soon after the event is over. Happy to help!

Hi, love this idea of a Purge-Athon! I am late to the party but want to do this unfortunately I cannot find it on your blog nor the directory. Please help so I can work with Lela going forward!
