Use these seven tips to stay organized and on budget before, during, and after Amazon Big Deal Days.
Amazon’s biggest discount event is back for fall, and my team and I are ready to find you the best deals on the products you’ve been asking us for. If you’ve never shopped Big Deal Days before, however, it can be overwhelming and not at all Organized-ish. That’s why we’re sharing our best tips to stay on track and on budget throughout the event.
1. Try Amazon Prime Free
Big Deal Days will have discounts available if you don’t have Amazon Prime, but they aren’t likely to be bigger than a weekly sale. The best deals—and free returns—are only for Prime members, so if you don’t have it already, here’s a 30-day free trial just for you. Use it to stock your cart and get early access to every deal. You can always cancel your trial after Big Deal Days are over (AKA after October 11, 2023) to dodge the membership fee.
2. Designate Your Hub
Now that you have your Prime membership, it’s time to give that search box at the top a workout, right? Well, unless you have a lot of time on your hands, combing through search results isn’t the way to go.
For curated products at a glance, look for Storefronts and Idea Lists. They save time by only showing you well-reviewed items, are updated constantly throughout Big Deal Days, and keep the number of open tabs on your device low, which makes pages load faster.
Many of your favorite creators (including us) have Amazon Storefronts, so it’s a good idea to keep those open if you’re looking for exactly what they use.

3. Shop By Category, Not Featured Deals
Idea Lists are typically grouped by category, and there’s a reason for that. It’s the best way to minimize distractions and ensure that only things you need and have room for go in your cart.
Found the Prime Big Deals section on the homepage? There are checkboxes on the left to sort everything by category and avoid impulsive clutter that pops up on the first page of deals.

4. Read Before You Receive
Since Big Deal Days only happens twice a year, you’ll probably see listings at the top that have huge discounts and a prime position on the page, but not great reviews or even known brand names. Never buy anything without reading the model or SKU numbers first to confirm what you’re getting, and always read reviews, making sure every product has more than a few positive ones.
To immediately see if a product listing is reputable, look for the orange Best Seller stripe across the top. This means that product has been actually purchased and highly rated hundreds or thousands of times, and our go-to carpet cleaner, pet hair remover, and laundry steamer all fit the category.
If it comes from a large, well-known brand, like a Ninja Foodi, it has to undergo lots of testing by law, so you can trust those too. Just do a quick web search first to make sure the deal you’re getting is the best price.
5. Impulse Buys = Unnecessary Clutter
Big sales like these always result in a feeling of “I need this because it’s a great deal!” instead of “I need this because it solves a problem or improves my lifestyle.” Try not to get swept up in the influencer videos on TikTok and the 50% off red banner on the Deals page.
Think about the items you need, the things you’ve been planning to purchase for a while, and the holiday gifts you’ll be looking for later in the season. Use this sale to save money but be mindful about not adding unnecessary clutter to your home.
6. Buy In Bulk (If You Have Room)
My team and I have been tracking deals on Amazon’s big discount days for the past seven years, and we’ve seen a pattern over time that bulk items and kits get better discounts than the same items sold separately.
If you need a spin brush scrubber with attachments or a set of clear drawer trays, now is the time to scoop them up in one order. Make sure to measure drawers properly beforehand, though, so your new organizers can take away clutter instead of adding to it.

7. Use Your Boxes As Impromptu Organizers
If you’re on the fence about buying organizing equipment during Big Deal Days, you don’t have to commit right away. The boxes from your other packages are perfect for testing size requirements before buying permanent organizers. They also make excellent donation boxes to help you declutter.
