Best Of 2022: Projects

December 20, 2022 · In: Projects

Here are the most popular DIY, design, and renovation projects for the year of 2022 on the Organized-ish blog and social media accounts.

2022 was the year of finishing up our house remodel projects. I was on a mission to get all the rooms done (less the bathrooms) so we can spend 2023 focusing on building a sustainable garden outside. This year was exhausting, expensive, and honestly a little frustrating, but we reached the end of the tunnel and achieved every single renovation goal we set for ourselves. Here are the most popular projects I did this year.

1. Kitchen Remodel

Every time I walk into my kitchen I swoon; straight-up Disney Princess-style swooning. When I toured this house three years ago, this is exactly what I envisioned. The floors, the ceiling, the cabinets, it was all in my head. This fall we completed Phase 2 of our kitchen remodel and I am just so proud and in awe of all we accomplished.

2. Primary Closet Storage Upgrade

I have been struggling with our closet ever since we moved in. It’s a small box with an air return bump-out that hinders most standard placements, and the wire shelving we installed three years ago worked fine but could be better. We finally took the plunge with this semi-custom system, and it has changed our life. I loved the towers so much I added more of them to our bedroom.

3. Laundry/Cat Room Storage Upgrade

A few months after we remodeled our closet, I realized those towers would be perfect for adding more storage to our laundry room, too. We store cleaning supplies, linens, pet supplies, backstock supplies, and all the random homeless things in this space, so all the cabinets and drawers gave us dedicated categories for it all. You can see the install here, and tour the organized cabinets here.

4. Custom Allergen-Focused Pantry Build

Between myself and my son, we have a lot of food allergies. We were having a hard time storing food safely, and my son wasn’t ever sure what snacks were safe for him, so my handyman and I designed and built this fully custom pantry. We added separate cubbies and drawers for dedicated separation, and it turned out exactly how I planned it. Get the full tour here and find out how much it cost to build here.

5. Studio Kitchenette Remodel

Yes, this is the same kitchenette that had a neon mural and pink countertop. Inspired by our local Starbucks location, this space is a dream for myself and my team while we are at work. The inside is fully stocked and organized, the counter was wrapped in water-resistant film, and the accent wall is made from door moulding. It’s the perfect moody little coffeehouse right inside our Studio.

Instead of going through organizer after organizer and spending more and more money, maybe you really just need more regular maintenance.
There’s nothing wrong with a catch-all place, in fact, we kind of need one in our home. Just declutter that area every couple of weeks so it never gets out of hand. 👏🏼
